Designed after the Soap Box Sessions held at the Annual Conference, the Product Application Session virtual event provides an opportunity to learn solutions to complex and challenging driver rehabilitation and automotive mobility situations.

The presentation will feature a case study, demonstrating how a product or service is used to solve a client issue.

Each Product Application Session is a stand-alone 30-minute event. To earn the contact hours, the participant must attend live for the entire 30 minutes.

Description of presentation
31 year old male with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, Hearing loss both ears (required ASL interpreter), 20/40 vision left eye, unable to identify right eye on stereo optic (unable to visualize), and assistance needed in all ADL tasks. We will be discussing the decision making process, adaptations needed, difference in teaching methods, establishing signs, the EMC ā€œJā€ Series, AEVIT Touch Screen, and Low Effort Switch for secondaries. 

Learning Objectives 

  • Attendees will understand how the decision was made for the EMC equipment
  • Attendees will understand the various orthotics trialed during the evaluation process
  • Attendees will understand the challenges of communication during evaluation and training
  • Attendees will understand alternative ways of communication
  • Attendees will understand how to facilitate effective communication with DMV examiner for this type of case
