These sessions provide an opportunity for a dealer and a CDRS to share a solution to a complex and challenging driver rehab and mobility situation.
Each Vehicle Modification Session is a stand-alone 30-minute event. To earn the contact hours, the participant must attend live for the entire 30 minutes.

Description of presentation
This session will walk through two real-world case studies illustrating what is possible when a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist and a mobility equipment dealer work closely together to solve complex, high-need situations. Using the experiences of a shared client, presenters Alex Cook and Brian Iadarola will detail how collaborative problem-solving, creative equipment selection, and strong communication between a CDRS and a dealer can result in a truly custom solution that restores independence for drivers with significant mobility challenges.
The session will explore both the 2015 Honda Odyssey and 2023 Chevrolet Traverse built for the same client, each equipped with an EMC single joystick driving system alongside a full suite of custom modifications including a power pan, adaptive switches, mirrors, and a wheelchair stabilizer. Attendees will gain insight into how "high-tech" and "low-tech" solutions can be combined and layered to meet a driver's unique needs, and how the dealer-CDRS relationship is the foundation that makes it all work.
Learning Objectives
- Develop and utilize effective collaboration between a CDRS and a mobility equipment dealer to achieve complex, client-centered outcomes.
- Identify and apply both high-tech and low-tech equipment and applications to selected vehicles through a coordinated, team-based approach.

Mr. Iadarola has been practicing as an Occupational Therapist for 29 years (1997) and has 22 years (2004) experience in providing Driver Rehabilitation Services. He is the President of The Therapy Place & Drivabilities, a private practice located in Louisville, Kentucky specializing in Evaluation and Training with Cars, Trucks, Vans and High-Tech Driving Systems.
