Learning Objectives:
- Understand SCI considerations and timeframes
- Compare and analyze different wheelchair seating systems and how it impacts driving
- Describe different transfer options and when to drive from a mobility device
- Analyze and describe appropriate vehicle choice for an independent driver from a MWC/PWC
- Discuss key principles in driver positioning and vehicle fit
- Compare and distinguish difference between low tech and high-tech systems
- Understand different types of securement systems, including self-retracting securements versus power lockdown system, etc.
- Analyze when to progress from low tech to moderate tech to high tech and considerations for each type of system
- Understand applications for the head and back rest and wheelchair pully systems (easy-pull)
- Compare secondary control options for independent drivers with a SCI diagnosis
- Understand needs for a torso belt and how to prescribe
- Determine when to refer to a CDRS who provides high-tech services

Registration confirmation and payment receipts are e-mailed to the attendee. All cancellations for events must be made in writing to the ADED Executive Office by August 20, 2024; a 20% handling fee will be charged. Refunds will not be issued after this date or for “no-shows.” Partial refunds will not be granted. ADED reserves the right to modify content, timetable, change speakers, or cancel events due to unforeseen/unavoidable circumstances at any time. If ADED cancels an event, a full refund will be provided to registrants. ADED does not offer refunds because of technological issues, should the ADED experience a platform outage, attendees will be provided an appropriate credit.
