Abstract: Driver rehabilitation specialists come from a variety of backgrounds and work with people of all ages and abilities who are exploring transportation solutions as drivers or passengers with special needs as well as those who are aging. Driver Rehabilitation Specialists are responsible for conducting a thorough evaluation of a clients' abilities and limitations (this sometimes involves referrals to other providers), providing driver remediation and training, assisting with navigating the driver licensing process, and working closely with mobility equipment dealers to achieve optimum vehicle fit. A driver rehabilitation specialist's location in the world and the local culture may impact the processes and procedures involving clients. Join us for this international panel discussion of commonalities, differences, and challenges to driver rehabilitation services in different countries.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss processes and procedures for driver rehabilitation service in different world locations
- Recognize implications of cultural differences on driver rehabilitation
- Develop an understanding of driving and alternative transportation in other regions
