Session 1: Partnering with Driver Licensing Agencies Panel Discussion
Developing a strong relationship with our local driver licensing organization is crucial to ensuring a successful outcome for our driver rehabilitation clients.
Speakers: Jenna Anderson- Driver Fitness Compliance Officer, Matt Coatney- DMV, Cheryl Porter- DMV
Often our clients need assistance with navigating next steps in relation to licensure and this discussion will assist with the following:
- Reviewing the process for renewing an expired license after illness/injury if they need a driving evaluation
- Steps to take when licensure revocation is recommended
- Physician’s role in driving recommendations versus DRS role
- Recommended steps when a client needs restrictions on their license/adaptive equipment
- Testing accommodations allowed
Session 2: Clients need community mobility solutions to ensure continued independence requiring continued learning and review of various vehicle modifications and adaptive equipment available.
Superior Van and Mobility's Michael Patterson will provide a general overview of the following:
- Review current/New vehicle solutions on the market
- Address updates in adaptive equipment options available (electronic versus mechanical, low and mid tech options)
- Discuss common Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems currently available in vehicles and pros/cons
- Matching mobility devices to vehicles- overcoming challenges
Registration confirmation and payment receipts are e-mailed to the attendee. All cancellations must be made in writing to the ADED Executive Office by April 12, 2024; a 20% handling fee will be charged. Refunds will not be issued after this date or for “no-shows.” Partial refunds will not be granted. ADED reserves the right to modify content, timetable, change speakers, or cancel events due to unforeseen/unavoidable circumstances at any time. If ADED cancels an event, a full refund will be provided to registrants.
