Designed after the Soap Box Sessions held at the Annual Conference, the Product Applications Session virtual event provides an opportunity to learn solutions to complex and challenging driver rehabilitation and automotive mobility situations.
The presentation will feature a case study, demonstrating how a product or service is used to solve a client issue.

Each Product Application Session is a stand-alone 30-minute event. To earn the contact hours, the participant must attend live for the entire 30 minutes.

Description of presentation
This product application session will explore clinical considerations for the driver rehabilitation specialist when guiding power wheelchair users through the adaptive vehicle selection and modification process. It will highlight a case study of a 46-year-old Male with Becker Muscular Dystrophy and will focus on the specific product applications that allowed this client to successfully maintain his independence as his condition progressed over time. 

Learning Objectives 

1. Understand how a diagnosis of Becker Muscular Dystrophy impacts community mobility over the span of time. 
2. Learn about the specific product applications that led to a successful transition to adaptive driving for a client with BMD.

Breanna Snyder

Driving to Independence

Breanna Snyder is a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTRL) and Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) working at Driving to Independence in Tempe, Arizona. Born and raised in Michigan, she graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Master of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Health Science. She began her career working with a pediatric population, specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She was named an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Emerging Leader in 2018 and was recognized as one of the “Exceptional Leaders Under 40” by the Lake Havasu City chamber of commerce in 2019. She transitioned into the field of Driver Rehabilitation in 2021 and found a new passion for working with novice neurodiverse drivers. She is a current member of the ADED Education Committee.
